Moonstar88 first started as a female-fronted pop alternative Filipino music group in year 2000. The band, then, made the break through the support of different colleges and universities in the country. Later on, they have attracted music labels and radio stations, loyal crowds (even rock listeners), and made exceptional contributions to the local music.
After the big hits “Sa Langit”, ”Torete”, ”Sulat”, ”Migraine”, and their famous rendition of APO Hiking’s “Panalangin” plus the prodigious components of their albums, Moonstar88 became well established in the music industry. The band even gathered awards last year (2014) for the album entitled “This Year” which consists of “Gilid” and “Ligaw” featuring Chito Miranda that charmed great youth hearing satisfaction. Those years were a sum of a sensational ride. It surely was a fast-paced journey yet it became their hard tie to hold and continue on living their music.
Today, the band celebrates fifteen years of excellence and fine experience. After all, there’s no doubt that the talents and gifts these members have for music are matchless. In fact, they continue to enhance their music and grow as musicians through a new album release this 2015. Furthermore, Moonstar88 are known for their creatively composed love songs that bring about the Valentines’ feel of February – a band that truly pleases their own hearts and the hearts of the others so watch them as they celebrate their 15th year anniversary concert at the U.P. Fair (Sunken Garden) on February 12, 2015.
